Tutoring is all about bringing to the students a new perspective on the subjects they are struggling with. There's always a way to gain understanding, but we get stuck when we are only taught to see the subject matter in one way. In this way, tutoring is extremely useful. So many students try to memorize the material just to pass the test because of the mental roadblocks they encounter. Sometimes, students just need the opportunity to understand the material - when a true conceptual understanding is reached memorization is unnecessary!
